Hear the Truth.

Master Meter is a LUFS meter for Ableton Live that helps you monitor loudness clearly and make faster level decisions while mixing and mastering.

Master Meter is a free Max for Live loudness metering plugin for Ableton Live. Built on the ITU-R BS.1770 standard, it gives you broadcast-grade metering — Momentary, Short-term, and Integrated LUFS, True Peak, LRA, RMS, and a real-time waveform — all with zero latency.

Master Meter - LUFS Loudness meter for Ableton Live

Why Master Meter?

Artboard 1

Full ITU-R BS.1770-5 compliance. V2 True Peak uses 4× oversampling with a 48-tap FIR interpolation filter — the same algorithm used in professional broadcast loudness meters.

🎯 Broadcast-Grade Accuracy

Artboard 1

Pure monitoring — no processing, no latency. Your audio passes through completely untouched. Drop it on your Master track and forget about it.

⚡ Zero Latency

Artboard 1

No trials, no feature gates, no upsells. Full-featured loudness metering for every Ableton Live producer. Download and use it — that's it.

Features

1 — True Peak (ITU-R BS.1770-5)

Know your real peak level.

not just sample peaks, but the actual signal peaks between samples.

Essential for avoiding clipping on D/A conversion and codec encoding.

  • 4× oversampling with 48-tap polyphase FIR interpolation
  • Separate Left / Right channel readings
  • Results in dBTP (decibels True Peak) — industry standard unit
  • Accuracy within ±0.5 dB (EBU Tech 3341 compliant)

2 — LRA (Loudness Range)

How dynamic is your mix?

LRA tells you the difference between the quietest and loudest moments.

crucial for genre-appropriate dynamics.

  • Based on Short-term LUFS distribution
  • Double-gated: absolute (−70 LUFS) + relative (mean − 20 LU)
  • 10th to 95th percentile range — outliers excluded
  • Result in LU (Loudness Units)

3 — RMS Level

Classic root-mean-square metering.

While LUFS has become the modern standard, RMS remains a familiar reference for many producers.

Especially useful for comparing perceived loudness during mixing.

4 — Real-time Waveform

A live stereo waveform display shows the audio signal in real time.

Spot clipping, asymmetry, or unusual transients at a glance.

5 — Momentary Max

The highest Momentary LUFS value since the last reset.

A quick reference for your loudest moment.

Useful for checking if your drops and choruses are hitting the right target.

6 — One-Click Reset

Hit the reset button to clear all accumulated measurements.

Integrated LUFS, LRA, Momentary Max, and True Peak max.

Start a fresh measurement from any point in your session.
